Born 1969, in Inverness, Scotland, Steve Porter studied European history, Spanish and philosophy at Edinburgh University before moving to Vigo in 1998, where the Iberian journey began. He writes poetry, travel and sports articles.
Published in a number of literary magazines, various newspapers and websites, he is still dreaming of the day when he can give up teaching altogether and make a decent living from writing and translation. More of a poet and essayist than fictional writer, he has made a tentative start on a novel about a young football obsessive. He hopes to publish this new work in time for the 30th anniversary of Scotland’s pathetic effort at the 1978 World Cup in Argentina, an event that led to the loss of childhood innocence and gave the author a good grounding in realism.
His personal blog is Catadonia.
