«Argentina has provided a mysteriously recurring thread through my life since university days in Berkeley, talking and talking in cafes with my first friend from that country which so significantly points to the depths, or heights, of our globe—while I have always lived somewhere in the middle: firstly, in California; now, and for the last twenty-five years, resident in England. Curiously, it has often been Argentine friends—who have an extraordinary capacity for pushing a thought further, deeper—to extend my perception of imaginative truths.»
